A Villa, Made Theirs
Fremont, California
They had lived here a long time — a beautiful Mediterranean-style home, and one they loved — and yet it had never quite become personal. The architecture was lovely. The rooms were graceful. But the house didn't yet tell their story, or say much about the people who had spent years inside it. The bones were beautiful; the soul was still waiting.
That's what they came to Raashi Design for: to bring the house to life and make it, at last, theirs. From the first meeting it was a conversation — listening as much as guiding — about how they live, what they love, and, above all, the colors that make them happy. Because this is a client who loves color, and color became the key to the whole home.
We layered in everything that gives a home character — new furnishings, artwork, lighting, and wall coverings, along with architectural details that gave the rooms more presence — building on a few of their own pieces and elevating everything around them. And color did the rest: bright, vibrant, joyful tones, beautifully coordinated from room to room — a marigold velvet here, a deep plum there — set against a cascading crystal chandelier and the warm patina of wood, exactly the palette a Mediterranean home wants.
In the end, it was a whole-house update — every room touched, each given its own mood, the entire home brought into one warm, colorful conversation. The family room, its heart, is anchored by a custom, bespoke sofa, built to the room's exact proportions and the way the family lives in it. The care reached the smallest moments — a powder room dressed in new wall covering — and even beyond the walls, where the outdoor spaces were styled to carry the feeling outside.
What had been a beautiful but quiet house became a home with a soul — elegant, warm, full of color, and unmistakably theirs. The architecture had always been lovely. We gave it a life to match.

It’s so fun to go back and see what a space looked like before work had begun. The changes can be so dramatic, sometimes it doesn’t even seem like it is the same room!
"I was planning to furnish my newly remodeled Mediterranean style home. She understood my needs, home desires and personal style, and created an elegant design, incorporating gorgeous pieces of furnishings with bright and vibrant colors beautifully coordinated. My husband says it feels like he is living in an Italian Villa."
