Beyond the Blueprint
Pleasanton, CA
The structure was already planned. An architect had drawn the addition — a second floor, an outward expansion, new square footage that would finally give the home room to breathe. What the drawings didn't yet have was a vision for how those spaces would actually live.
That's where Raashi Design came in.
Before a single selection was made, the plans were reviewed in detail — not just accepted, but interrogated. What did the clients actually need from each space? How did they want to move through the home? Where did the current layout fall short of those answers? A window here, a door there, a ceiling detail that hadn't been considered — small modifications that made a meaningful difference in how the finished spaces would feel and function.
With the plan refined, the design began. The kitchen was built around function as much as beauty — cabinetry designed to meet the family's storage needs, the right accessories integrated throughout, an engineered quartz island, and a tone-on-tone herringbone tile backsplash that adds texture without competing for attention. A bluish-green coffered ceiling gives the room its own quiet drama. A mini bar. A fireplace. An entry that sets the tone before you've gone further. The family room received custom built-ins designed for how the family actually uses the space. An office and study designed around how the clients actually work. Upstairs, the new second floor was planned as a complete, cohesive layer — not an addition bolted on, but a natural extension of the home.
Flooring and paint ran through every room, inside and out, tying it all together.
The result was a home that exceeded what the drawings had promised — because good design doesn't start with selections. It starts with the right questions.
"Sheeja's process started with understanding what was important to us — how we wanted to feel in our environment and how we wanted to use our space. We were delighted to see the design come to life in her presentations and 3D drawings. She has a fresh taste and an inspiring design sense that resulted in an experience that exceeds expectations. She did a fantastic job putting all of the pieces together."
